Background & Education
I am originally from the Texas Hill Country. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. I have called the Pacific Northwest my home for the last ten years and still haven't gotten over its beauty. I received my Masters in Counseling from Portland State University, with a focus of Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. As a Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor, I have additional training in working with people who experience disability and chronic illness.
My experience in the field includes working at a grief counseling center, as well as in psychiatric residential and day treatment programs. I completed my training placements at the Portland State Community Counseling Clinic, a low-cost community mental health clinic, and at the Oregon Commission for the Blind, where I provided both mental health and vocational rehabilitation counseling. I also have nearly 20 years of experience under my belt in the food service industry.
Becoming a counselor has been deeply influenced by my personal experiences with loss and my drive for self-growth. I have experienced my own journeys with grief, anxiety, and the challenges of finding balance and direction in life. I am passionate about therapy, as I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound change and healing it can bring. I am honored to do this work.
Please see my Professional Disclosure Statement for more information about my training and licensure status.
Interests of mine outside of counseling include cooking and using my creativity to piece together meals with what I have on hand, gardening, experiencing the change in seasons, hanging out with my two cats Monster and Luna, being outdoors in any capacity, going on adventures (ain’t that just life?), jumping in cold bodies of water, and just sitting and letting my thoughts wander.
